Bills head coach Sean McDermott has ruled DT Ed Oliver (ankle) out for Sunday’s game against the Jets.
“Ed will be out this game. (He) got stepped on at practice on Wednesday, unfortunately,” McDermott told WGR550 during his weekly appearance. “We’ll see where it goes into next week as far as his status goes.”
Oliver did not participate in Thursday’s walkthrough practice.
CB Taron Johnson (quad), CB Tre’Davious White (groin), DE Greg Rousseau (knee), TE Dawson Knox (hip), LB Shaq Thompson (hamstring/hand) and DB Jordan Hancock (shoulder) were all limited in at least one practice this week. Johnson and Thompson did not participate in Wednesday’s practice and were limited for Thursday’s walkthrough practice.
White, who missed the first game with a groin injury, was limited for Wednesday and Thursday’s practice. McDermott said they have to get through Friday before deciding if he will play on Sunday.
“He’s had a pretty good week of getting back on the field, and we’ll see where today leads us,” McDermott added.
Two players – RB James Cook (hamstring) and CB Brandon Codrington (knee) started the week limited but were full participants for Thursday’s practice and will be on the field for Friday’s practice.
Hancock, who was a Week 1 healthy inactive, looks to be in a good spot for Sunday.
“We think he’ll be available from a health standpoint, and we’ll see where that goes,” McDermott said of the rookie.
