CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Browns found a possible replacement for left tackle Dawand Jones right in their own backyard.
They signed former Massillon Washington High and Ohio State product Thayer Munford Jr. off the Patriots practice squad to help replace Jones, who was placed on IR.
Jones, also a former Buckeye, will undergo season-ending knee surgery to repair the injury suffered on the fourth play of Sunday’s 13-10 victory over the Packers.
Munford (6-5, 354) is in his fourth NFL season out of Ohio State. Originally drafted by Las Vegas in the seventh round in 2022, Munford has appeared in 46 career games with 18 starts with the Raiders (2022-24), both at left and right tackle. He has spent the 2025 season on the Patriots’ practice squad. Munford will wear No. 64.
Jones appeared in three games this season, making starts at both right and left tackle. He was due to nail down the Browns starting left tackle job this season.
