KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Bronson Healthcare is re-naming its walk-in care locations throughout Southwest Michigan.
In a release Tuesday, health officials announced Bronson FastCare is now Bronson QuickCare, and Bronson Urgent Care is now Bronson QuickCare Plus.
According to officials, the goal of the new names is to give patients a better understanding of where to go to receive specific care.
“Our goal was to help patients better understand their care options and provide more transparency about what to expect at each level of care,” Lisa Padgett, director of capacity management for Bronson Healthcare Group, said.
QuickCare is meant to be a convenient alternative to a standard primary care visit, while QuickCare Plus offers the same services, but also more urgent, non-life threatening concerns.
For example, a patient would go to Bronson QuickCare for something such as a common illness. Another patient would go to Bronson QuickCare Plus for stitches and treatments for broken bones.
No services will change, but accessing the correct form of care is expected to improve, officials said.
“We recognized that there is some need to better understand the levels of care and where to obtain that care,” Padgett told News Channel 3. “So, really, where do you go? What’s your best walk-in option? And we recognize that with the different locations, names, it was confusing. So, we listened to that feedback and wanted to help our patients understand how to make this easier for them to make that decision.”
Cost is an important factor for many patients. According to officials, the walk-ins’ new names will help patients better understand how much they’ll be billed when they go to the right place for the correct care.
“We want to do everything we can to help those patients understand their options and what to expect when they receive their bill,” Padgett said. “So, launching this advertising campaign, getting in what we’re looking, you’ll see more of is trying to educate on the different real life health scenarios and where to go to get that care.”
