British Open Round 2 live updates, leaderboard: Can Scottie Scheffler survive the weather that’s arrived at Royal Portrush?

The second round of the British Open is underway and the Claret Jug is still very much up for grabs.

There were five golfers tied for the lead when play finally ended on Thursday night, including Jacob Skov, Olesen, Haotong Li, Matt Fitzpartick, Christiaan Bezuidenhout and Harris English. Top-ranked Scottie Scheffler will start Round 2 just a single shot behind thanks to an opening 68.

But it’s Brian Harman who has made the early run in Round 2, firing a 6-under 65 to move to -8 and take the clubhouse lead.

Rory McIlroy, playing at home this week and trying to avenge his last outing at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland, has kept himself in contention. He finished with a second round 69 to get to 3-under, five back of Harman.

McIlroy finished No. 18 in a downpour that will surely impact scoring in the afternoon, which includes Scheffler.

There are several big names who struggled in Round 1, putting themselves in jeopardy of missing the weekend. That included Bryson DeChambeau. He fired a 7-over to drop down to the tail end of the leaderboard. But he was on fire in Round 2, carding a 6-under 65 to get him within the cutline.
