Apple is ready to believe again, with “Ted Lasso” Season 4 officially in production.
Apple TV+ has announced that shooting on the fourth season of the beloved sports comedy series has begun in Kansas City, with additional filming due to take place in London. A first look at the new season can be seen above.
It was previously reported that Jason Sudeikis would be returning as Ted Lasso for Season 4. Now, it is confirmed that original cast members Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt, and Jeremy Swift will all be back as well.
In addition, new cast members for the series include Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern, and Grant Feely. Exact character details for the newcomers are being kept under wraps, but it is known that Feely will take over the role of Henry Lasso, Ted’s son.
The official logline for Season 4 states, “Ted returns to Richmond, taking on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second division women’s football team. Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would.”
Jack Burditt has boarded Season 4 as executive producer under his new overall deal with Apple TV+. Sudeikis will executive produce in addition to starring. Hunt, Joe Kelly, Jane Becker, Jamie Lee and Bill Wrubel also executive produce. Goldstein is attached to write and executive produce along with Leanne Bowen.
Bill Lawrence executive produces via his Doozer Productions alongside Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer. Sara Walker and Phoebe Walsh are writers and co-executive producers on the new season, with Sasha Garron co-producing. Julia Lindon is a writer and Dylan Marron is story editor. Warner Bros. Television, where Doozer is under an overall deal, produces with Universal Television. The series was developed by Sudeikis, Lawrence, Kelly and Hunt, and is based on the preexisting format and characters from NBC Sports.
“Ted Lasso” originally debuted in 2020, with the third season airing in 2023. “Ted Lasso” quickly found itself an audience upon its release, perhaps due to the main character’s quest to spread happiness and kindness at a time when the world was deep in the depths of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Ted Lasso” was ultimately nominated for 61 Emmy Awards during its run, winning 13. That includes back to back wins in the best comedy series category, as well as consecutive wins for Sudeikis and Goldstein.
