A release date for Bradley Cooper’s Is This Thing On? movie has been announced.

Cooper co-writes and directs Is This Thing On?, a new movie about a stand-up comic who is going through a divorce. The film stars Will Arnett (Arrested Development), Laura Dern (Jurassic Park), Cooper, and more.

When is the release date for Is This Thing On?

Is This Thing On? will be released in limited theaters in the United States on December 18, 2025, from Searchlight Pictures. A wider release will likely follow at a later time, though a specific date has not yet been revealed.

“As their marriage quietly unravels, Alex (Will Arnett) faces middle age and an impending divorce, seeking new purpose in the New York comedy scene while Tess (Laura Dern) confronts the sacrifices she made for their family — forcing them to navigate co-parenting, identity, and whether love can take a new form,” the official synopsis for the movie reads.

Cooper and Arnett, who wrote the screenplay with Mark Chappell, serve as producers on the movie alongside Weston Middleston and Kris Thykier. Andra Day, Amy Sedaris, Sean Hayes, Christine Ebersole, Ciarán Hinds, and Scott Icenogle round out the movie’s cast.

Cooper made his feature film directorial debut in 2018 with A Star Is Born, the Lady Gaga-starring remake of the 1937 romantic drama. The movie won Best Original Song (Lady Gaga, Mark Ronson, Anthony Rossomando, and Andrew Wyatt for “Shallow) at the Oscars and was nominated for seven other Academy Awards.

Following that, Cooper directed the Leonard Bernstein biopic, Maestro, which was released in 2023. That film was also nominated for a handful of Academy Awards, seven in total, but didn’t win any.
