Black Ops 7 developers have revealed a big overhaul in how players will unlock weapon camos in the new game.
Unlocking weapon camos and skins is something that a lot of Call of Duty players focus on in the early days of a new game. Some try their hardest to be the first in the world to unlock the top level of camos.
That grind can, of course, be a little tedious for more casual players who don’t want to dedicate their life to camos. If that applies to you, well, you’re in luck when it comes to Black Ops 7.
The new Call of Duty title will feature more ways than ever before to earn your weapon camos, and there will be “better pacing” throughout the 16 mastery camo levels. And yes, that means fewer headshots, too.
Black Ops 7 makes camos easier to get
This overhaul to unlocking camos was revealed by the Call of Duty devs during their September 22 announcement around multiplayer, including a camo hub for better tracking.
You will now only need 80 headshots per weapon to complete the nine military-level camos. Shotguns will require point-blank kills for those, while sniper rifles are locked to One Shot Kills.
“There are now three Special Camos per weapon instead of two,” the devs also say. “You can now equip any Universal Camo to any Weapon; the previous requirement of having to unlock five Military Camos on the Weapon before equipping a Universal Camo has been removed.”

Weapon Prestiges will also have additional camo unlocks!
Additionally, the “more difficult and frustrating” Warzone Camo Challenges have been re-evaluated. These challenges will be “more reasonable” to complete in Black Ops 7.
Yes, this means that camos will still be unlockable across Co-Op Campaign, Multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone.
Each Weapon will also feature three unique Universal Camos. These can only be unlocked by progressing deep into Black Ops 7’s Weapon Prestige with that particular gun. And there will also be additional challenges – both weekly and seasonal – for camos too.
