Over a month before the start of the 2025 college football season, North Carolina has already filled its seats for the entire year.
Per ESPN’s Pete Thamel, UNC has now sold out its entire allotment of football tickets for Bill Belichick’s debut season as head coach. Season tickets were already sold out this past spring, and individual tickets are now completely unavailable.
Arguably the greatest NFL coach of all time, Belichick is attempting his first foray into college football. His father, Steve, once served as an assistant coach for the Tar Heels, so he followed in his dad’s footsteps to join the program last December.
Many have questioned how the 73-year-old will adjust to the throes of college sports, which include recruiting, navigating the transfer portal and the ever-shifting landscape surrounding NIL incentives. However, Belichick has embraced this new challenge of molding the next generation of football stars.
“Look, these are great kids to work with, they really are,” Belichick said last month, per the Associated Press. “We’ve had great buy-in. There have really been no problems at all. These guys are on time, they’re early, they work hard, they put in the work in the weight room, out on the field. They spend time on their own, whether it’s doing extra training or coming over and watching film and that type of thing. They’ve made a ton of improvement, and these guys are a lot better than they were when we started in January, on every level. So it’s exciting to see where that’s going to take us.”
Belichick and the Tar Heels will open the 2025 season on Sept. 1 against TCU. It will be a standalone Monday night game broadcast on ESPN, giving the six-time Super Bowl champion his own stage for his college football debut.
