We recently got a huge blowout of information and gameplay footage relating to Battlefield 6, and new details are still coming through — including how the first-person shooter will perform on consoles.
In an interview with YouTube channel Tech & Co, Florian Le Bihan, principal game designer at DICE, confirms that the team will “guarantee” 60 frames-per-second while playing in Performance mode on PS5.
Here’s his full quote regarding performance (auto translated on YouTube):
“Optimisation for us has been one of the most important things for Battlefield. We want to make sure that it’s not just a game that’s graphically super beautiful, but it’s also a game that runs on all configurations […] We put a lot of effort into optimising the game. We guarantee 60fps on all experiences on consoles.”
Le Bihan doesn’t say so directly, but he also suggests PS5 Pro’s Performance mode will be able to output an even higher frame rate, if you have the right setup.
It’s great news; multiplayer shooters like Battlefield 6 benefit massively from smooth performance, as they’re often very fast-paced and require split-second decisions. That the game will hold 60fps while looking the way it does is impressive, too.
We recently went hands-on with the game and came away very pleased; it’s shaping up to be a real return to form.
