Massive Entertainment has confirmed its PS5 open world game Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will receive a third-person mode and a New Game+ option to mark the title’s second anniversary in December.
Also timed to release alongside the third movie, Avatar: Fire and Ash, the Ubisoft developer has “reworked animations, controls, audio, and camera systems to ensure the experience feels seamless and intuitive” when played in third-person.
Here’s a taste of how it looks:
Then, in New Game+, all of your inventory and skills will carry over into a new playthrough featuring more powerful gear, enemies, and an extra skill tree to invest in. This all arrives for free on 5th December 2025.
Since its 2023 release on PS5, the game has received two pieces of DLC, and further free updates that have brought the likes of a 40FPS mode on base PS5. While the publisher thinks microtransactions make games “more fun”, this counts as another example of the strong post-launch support Ubisoft provides its games.
In our Avatar PS5 review, we awarded an 8/10 score and added: “The game is certainly filled with tropes of the Ubisoft formula, but the lore and focus on harvesting and hunting elevates that open-world design to create an immersive and inviting setting that we happily lost ourselves in.”
