Publisher Ubisoft and developer Massive Entertainment have announced Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora downloadable content expansion “From the Ashes.” It will launch on December 19—day and date with the release of the Avatar: Fire and Ash film.
“Our partnership with Massive Entertainment has allowed us to expand this universe in bold new ways with Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora,” said Lightstorm Entertainment executive vice president of franchise development Joshua Izzo in a statement. “This new expansion, ‘From the Ashes,’ will release on the same day as the theatrical release for Avatar: Fire and Ash—a film that explores darker corners of Pandora and introduces the formidable Ash People—we’re equally excited for Avatar fans to experience untold stories through new interactive adventures.”
Massive Entertainment creative director Omar Bouali added, “With ‘From the Ashes,’ we wanted to push the boundaries of what players can experience in Pandora. This expansion delivers a darker, more personal story, enhanced immersion via third-person gameplay, and intense new combat mechanics that deepen the emotional and tactical stakes. We wanted to offer fans a thrilling new perspective on the Western Frontier, with deeper storytelling and more visceral gameplay.”

A new expansion for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, titled “From the Ashes,” will be released on December 19, the same day as the theatrical release for Avatar: Fire and Ash. The expansion lets players play as the Na’vi warrior So’lek and experience a new story of vengeance and survival set in a section of the Western Frontier that encompasses a ravaged Kinglor Forest and a brand-new area.
Developed by Massive Entertainment—a Ubisoft Studio—in collaboration with Lightstorm Entertainment and Disney, “From the Ashes” takes place shortly after the events of the main game and takes you on the journey of So’lek, a battle-hardened Na’vi warrior from the Trr’ong clan. Ambushed and left for dead by the RDA and their new allies, the ruthless Ash clan, So’lek awakens to a world in flames and his Sarentu family scattered. Driven by grief and vengeance, he sets out to reunite with and protect his loved ones.
“From the Ashes” expansion will be available as a standalone purchase for players who already own the base game or will be available for purchase as part of the new “From the Ashes” Edition, which will contain the base game and the “From the Ashes” expansion, along with “Floating Mountains Bonus Content ” (three distinct banshee color patterns inspired by the Valley of Mo’ara in Pandora—The World of Avatar).
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is available now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, Ubisoft Store, and Luna.
