At least 2 students shot at Evergreen High School, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office says

At least two students were shot Wednesday at Evergreen High School, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said.

The students are en route to a hospital, the sheriff’s office said.

Officials said they were responding to an “active assailant” near the Jefferson County school.

The county’s dispatch center reported the assailant near the high school at 29300 Buffalo Park Rd., calling it an active scene at about 12:40 p.m.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said it is responding to the scene.

Videos and photos from Evergreen showed law enforcement vehicles racing toward the school.

Officials asked parents to avoid the high school and to pick up their students at Bergen Meadow Elementary School at 1928 S. Hiwon Dr.
