Apple’s Foldable iPhone Could Feature The Largest Battery Capacity Of Any Of The Company’s Devices, But The Latest Pricing Rumor Means That It Will Also Be The Most Expensive

The preliminary specifications breakdown of the foldable iPhone provided by analysts did not mention the device’s battery capacity, and since Apple has always remained behind the competition in this area, instead relying on software optimizations to improve endurance, it was assumed that the cell would be smaller than what it is on competing foldable smartphones. However, the latest rumor hints that Apple is prepping to outfit the biggest battery capacity next year, and one that could eclipse the iPhone 17 Pro Max’s arriving in September.

New rumor claims the foldable iPhone’s battery could be in the 5,000mAh-5,500mAh range, with its price set to be 15,000 yuan

An inner display and a cover display mean that the foldable iPhone will be sipping battery life like there is no tomorrow, so naturally, it will require a bigger cell to offset that higher power consumption. The rumor was mentioned on Weibo by Dingzhuo Digital, with MyDrivers reporting that the capacity would be in the 5,000mAh-5,500mAh range. Apple might be exploring using silicon-carbon technology to increase the battery size without compromising on the thickness, but we doubt that this change will arrive on the foldable iPhone.

As for the pricing, the report mentions a 15,000 yuan price, which will likely be for the base model, and when using direct currency conversion, the total comes to around $2,090. According to UBS analysts, the price range of the foldable iPhone is between $2,000-$2,400, and that is because its ‘Bill of Materials’ is estimated to be $759, making it slightly lower than the base iPhone 16’s retail price in the U.S. for the unlocked version. If customers will be paying to experience the absolute best in smartphone technology from Apple, then they should be prepared to part with a decent chunk of change.

While developing a foldable smartphone is a costly endeavor, Apple is pursuing other design choices that will increase the device’s production cost. For instance, the foldable iPhone will reportedly ship with the A20 Pro chipset, which is expected to use TSMC’s 2nm process and the Taiwanese semiconductor giant’s WMCM (Wafer-Level Multi-Chip Module) packaging. The technology giant will also reportedly use metal plates on its foldable iPhone, which will be attached to the displays, and use laser drilling to prevent the crease from showing up. The launch will reportedly happen in the second half of 2026, and we will keep our readers updated on future details, so stay tuned.
