We’re just one week away from Apple unveiling its flagship iPhone 17 lineup, and while market analysts have generally been expecting price increases on most new models, the latest report indicates we might be in for good news.
JPMorgan projects slim-to-no price increases on iPhone 17 lineup
JPMorgan has released its latest expectations ahead of Apple’s big iPhone 17 unveiling next week.
In a research note seen by 9to5Mac, the firm forecasts surprisingly good news for iPhone 17 pricing.
Until now, analysts have generally expected price hikes on all new models except possibly the base iPhone 17.
But per JPMorgan, there might be only a single price increase coming—and even that “increase” could arguably be seen as price consistency.
Here’s the full lineup of what JPMorgan projects:
- iPhone 17: $799 (no increase)
- iPhone 17 Air: $899-949 (no increase or $50 increase)
- iPhone 17 Pro: $1,099 ($100 increase but with higher starting storage)
- iPhone 17 Pro Max: $1,199 (no increase)
In summary, the iPhone 17 Pro is the only model that is definitely expected to increase in price.
However, as we’ve seen from several previous reports, that model is also rumored to start with more storage than ever.
Prior models—including the iPhone 16 Pro—have started at 128GB for $999, and cost $1,099 for 256GB of storage.
The iPhone 17 Pro is expected to start at 256GB, eliminating the lower storage option which likely wasn’t very popular anyways. As a result, the new model will be the same price as last year at that 256GB storage tier.
The biggest question mark, then, is the iPhone 17 Air. While it’s technically replacing the Plus model in the lineup, it’s a brand new form factor that could justify a slightly higher price.
Starting the iPhone 17 Air at $899 could certainly help make up for what it lacks in cameras and battery life. But $949 also doesn’t seem out of the question for the new ultra-thin form factor.
Remarkably though, if JPMorgan’s expectations prove right, there’s a good chance that the iPhone 17 lineup will cost about the same as last year’s iPhone 16 line—just with a minor change to the Pro model’s storage options.
