Today Apple has released brand new firmware for AirPods Pro 3, AirPods Pro 2, and AirPods 4. Here are the details.
New AirPods firmware arrives ahead of iOS 26.1
AirPods Pro 3, AirPods Pro 2, and AirPods 4 users, there’s new firmware available for download today.
The new firmware build is 8A358.
This is up from the last released builds of 8A356 for AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4, and AirPods Pro 3’s 8A357 version.
Apple has not yet detailed the specific changes included in the latest firmware. It’s likely to offer the standard “bug fixes and other improvements” that we see with most firmware builds.
It’s also very possible that this new build prepares AirPods for the expansion of Live Translation into new languages in iOS 26.1.

iOS 26.1 is currently still in beta testing, but a public launch is expected later this month.
Unlike its other software platforms, Apple’s release schedule for new AirPods firmware tends to be fairly erratic. There’s often new firmware released some time before or after a corresponding iOS update, but the two rarely sync up exactly.
That’s in part due to the odd nature of AirPods firmware installation.
Apple doesn’t currently offer a way to manually install new firmware updates.
Instead, you have to follow Apple’s recommended step-by-step guidance and just wait for the installation to happen automatically.
Have you installed the new AirPods firmware, and if so, have you noticed any differences? Let us know in the comments.
