Apple is unlikely to announce these products at its September event

Apple is hosting its biggest event of the year on September 9. New iPhone 17 models, Apple Watch Ultra 3, AirPods Pro 3, and more are expected. But there are a variety of soon-to-release Apple products that likely won’t make a September event appearance. Here’s what not to expect from Apple’s ‘Awe dropping’ event.

New Macs

It’s rare for Macs to make an appearance at Apple’s September event. Most of the time, if the company has new Macs ready, it saves them for October or November releases.

Last year, the M4 MacBook Pro, Mac mini, and iMac debuted at the end of October and shipped early the following month. In 2023, late October brought the M3 MacBook Pro.

But this year, there may not be any new Macs coming for the entire fall.

Apple reportedly has an M5 MacBook Pro nearly ready for launch, but reporting indicates it won’t arrive until early 2026. There’s also a new Mac Pro expected at some point, but launch timing remains unclear.

Even if one of these Macs does make a surprise 2025 appearance, it almost certainly won’t be until October or later.

‘HomePad’ / HomePod Touch

Apple’s home efforts have long felt like a hobby, but the company reportedly has big ambitions to change that.

The long-rumored ‘HomePad’ device (more likely to be called HomePod Touch) is a key part of that. But it’s not expected to launch until 2026.

Bloomberg originally reported that Apple planned a March 2025 release. But delays to Siri’s AI overhaul forced the company to delay the new Home product, and a spring 2026 launch is now expected.

AirPods Max or AirPods 4 successors

Apple often launches new AirPods models at its September event. That’s expected to happen again this year with AirPods Pro 3.

However, rumors indicate there are no revisions coming for the more affordable AirPods 4 or high-end AirPods Max.

AirPods 4 just launched last year, so we shouldn’t expect a major revision until 2026 at the earliest. And despite AirPods Max still lagging behind Apple’s other models in supported features, rumors indicate there’s no new hardware coming any time soon.

Beyond the iPhone 17 line, new Apple Watch models, and AirPods Pro 3, there are a handful of other products rumored to launch at some point this fall.

It’s unclear, however, whether they’ll debut at Apple’s September event or be saved for release in October or November.

These wildcard products include:

Some of these products could plausibly arrive in the September event. AirTag 2, for example, is typically seen as an iPhone accessory and thus would make a fitting addition.

Between four new iPhones, three new Apple Watch models, and AirPods Pro 3, however, it’s unlikely there will be room for much else.
