Samsung’s Galaxy Z TriFold will be the first additional type of foldable that the company has debuted since the Galaxy Z Flip over 5 years ago. This is the second time that an official animation has shown exactly how Samsung’s three-sided device will fold and unfold, and it’s still wild to look at.
Twitter/X user @TechHighest posted a video of what looks like an official Galaxy Z TriFold animation. The animation shows the foldable’s ability to utilize the heavy-duty camera array for selfies, rather than the smaller front camera. This isn’t a new feature. It’s been adopted in some form for just about every Android foldable on the market.
Just how the Galaxy Z TriFold folds and unfolds is seen, once again, in the new animation video. The Galaxy Z TriFold appears to fold outward, starting with the right side, then followed by the left side. Comparing this to the first look posted by the same user last week, the TriFold follows the exact same folding/unfolding pattern.
The new animation and the previous one look a little different because of the phone’s orientation. In both videos, the Galaxy Z TriFold folds from an open to a closed state, starting with the left panel folded in, and then the right panel folded inwards on top of the closed left panel.
A 2D animation is nothing compared to a visual representation of the real thing, but that will have to wait until we get closer to launch. It’s rumored that Samsung will unveil the Galaxy Z TriFold later in September at yet another Galaxy Unpacked event. The details are still murky.
