Annette Bening Cast in ‘Yellowstone’ Beth and Rip Spinoff

A Yellowstone spinoff centered on Kelly Reilly’s and Cole Hauser’s characters has added a prominent name to its cast.

Multiple Oscar nominee Annette Bening has joined the Paramount+ show, which has a working title of The Dutton Ranch. The series will focus on Beth (Reilly) and Rip (Hauser) after the end of the flagship series, which saw them move to a new ranch. Finn Little will also reprise his role as Carter.

Additionally, the series has named Chad Feehan as showrunner. Feehan previously worked with Yellowstone co-creator Taylor Sheridan as the showrunner of Lawmen: Bass Reeves. His credits also include Rectify, Ray Donovan and Banshee.

Bening will play a character named Beulah Jackson, who’s described as a “powerful, cunning and charming” woman who heads a major ranch in Texas. She is the latest A-list actor to join Sheridan’s Yellowstone-verse, following the likes of Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren (1923) and Michelle Pfeiffer (upcoming spinoff The Madison).

The Dutton Ranch is part of a sprawling franchise to grow out of Yellowstone that includes prequels 1883 and 1923, The Madison — a present-day story that also stars Matthew Fox, Patrick J. Adams, Elle Chapman, Beau Garrett, Ben Schnetzer and Amiah Miller — and CBS’ upcoming Y: Marshals. Another prequel, 1944, is in development.

Bening’s recent credits include her Oscar-nominated role in Nyad, Peacock’s Apples Never Fall and Death on the Nile. She’s also starring with Anya Taylor-Joy in an Apple TV+ limited series called Lucky. Bening is repped by CAA and Gochman Law Group.

Deadline first reported the news.
