Sony’s updated its Welcome Back widget with two new animated backgrounds, based on a couple of 2025’s biggest games.
The new animated wallpapers for Battlefield 6 and NBA 2K26 can be applied to the hub screen, giving a military or sports flavour to your system, depending on which you fancy.
While these wallpapers will only apply to the Welcome Back screen, they look nice enough. We quite like the Battlefield 6 option, as it shows silhouettes of aircrafts in the background.
Of course, fans have spent the entire generation begging Sony to bring back Themes, which doesn’t look like it’s going to happen now. The manufacturer would argue that each individual game has its own unique wallpaper, but clearly many aren’t really feeling that approach.
The firm did experiment with some classic console-inspired interfaces for the format’s 30th anniversary, which have since been added permanently following fan demand. We’d like to think the PS6’s UI will be a bit more customisable than the current console.
