Here’s every item Bungie has disabled for Destiny 2’s new Desert Perpetual raid, launching with a 48-hour Contest Mode.
Destiny 2’s newest raid, The Desert Perpetual, is almost here, and players are already prepping for the day one race. This brand-new raid kicks off on Saturday, July 19, at 10 AM PT, with Contest Mode running for the first 48 hours. This means capped Power, with tougher enemies.
And just like major raid or dungeon launches before it, Bungie is once again disabling a list of in-game items that could give players an unfair advantage or cause issues during the race. In this article, we’re breaking down every item Bungie has disabled for the Desert Perpetual raid race, so you’re not caught off guard once the doors open.

Destiny 2 Desert Perpetual Raid: All Disabled Items
This info comes straight from this week’s “This Week in Destiny” blog post, where the developer has confirmed the expected Contest Mode details and also laid out the gear that won’t be usable during the raid’s first 48 hours.
If you’ve followed previous raid launches, this won’t be anything new. Bungie typically disables items that are broken, bugged, or just flat-out too strong under Contest rules. It’s their way of keeping the day one experience as fair and consistent as possible.
Here’s the current list of disabled items for Desert Perpetual:
- Outbreak Perfected Exotic Pulse Rifle
- Third Iteration Exotic Scout Rifle
- Choir of One Exotic Auto Rifle
- Icebreaker Exotic Sniper Rifle
- Set Bonus perks on the Collective Psyche armor set
- Distribution Armor Mod
“Please note that players will not be prevented from equipping disabled Fragments or items with disabled perks, but the effects will not work when in the raid during the disabled time frames listed above,” said Bungie.
We’ll keep updating this list if Bungie adds more items before the raid race.

One thing that’s different this time around is that once the first fireteam completes the raid, the normal version of Desert Perpetual will unlock for everyone, without Contest restrictions. That’s when most players will be jumping in to try the full experience without the added pressure.
Also, thanks to some early leaks making the rounds this week, we now have a first look at the Desert Perpetual raid loot. It looks like the raid will feature a full set of sleek, Vex-themed armor for each class, a brand-new Exotic heavy weapon, and a lineup of legendary weapons with unique designs and perks tied to the raid’s aesthetic.
There are also a couple of cosmetic rewards like emblems and shaders that seem to be linked to both Contest Mode clears and normal completion. You can check that out here.
