The Cardinals, not unexpectedly, will have to shuffle at cornerback. But maybe not as much as once feared.
Coach Jonathan Gannon said Wednesday that Garrett Williams, who hurt his knee in a collision with safety Budda Baker late in Sunday’s game against the Panthers. Williams, Gannon said, has a chance to return this season.
But cornerbacks Max Melton (knee) will participate in practice on Wednesday. Will Johnson (groin) will not, but Gannon said both will be evaluated “day to day.”
The Cardinals also lost defensive lineman L.J. Collier to a knee injury, and he will also head to IR. Gannon said he too could return this season.
To fill one of the open roster spots, the Cardinals promoted cornerback Darren Hall from the practice squad.
The team also signed defensive lineman Zach Carter and cornerback Ekow Boye-Doe to the practice squad, and released linebacker Elliott Brown from the practice squad.
