A&M’s thrilling 41-40 victory over Notre Dame featured a high-intensity, emotional, highly competitive matchup between two very talented teams. From watching the game, you would say this was an evenly matched contest. The advanced stats tell a similar story.
The story of the game (from a stats perspective) was that the Irish were slightly more successful on a down to down basis, but A&M’s explosive plays were very explosive and they ultimately made more plays when it mattered most. A&M had some sloppy mistakes at times (13 penalties) and certainly didn’t play their best game, but they were STILL able to scratch out a win against a top 10 team on the road. If they can clean some things up during the bye week, watch out.
