Taylor Swift’s Chiefs Game Attendance Isn’t a Total Lock Today

Taylor Swift almost never misses a Chiefs game at Arrowhead — but one rumored event could explain an empty suite this weekend.

While there are valid reasons Taylor Swift hasn’t attended her now-fiancé Travis Kelce’s away games — be it her touring schedule or security concerns — she has been something of a constant at the Kansas City Chiefs home games at Arrowhead Stadium. Her presence has been such a big deal at the NFL stadium that she has even been immortalized in Arrowhead Stadium’s press room.

That history makes it easy to assume Swift will be there today, when the Chiefs face the Philadelphia Eagles in their first home game of the season (and their first rematch since last year’s Super Bowl). Last year, she only missed one Arrowhead game, and that was because she was closing out the Eras Tour in Tokyo. Otherwise, Sunday doubled as Swift-watch.

So why isn’t this opener a lock? Not because of football. The only real scheduling conflict floating around is Selena Gomez’s rumored wedding to Benny Blanco. If those vows really are happening in September — and if it’s this weekend, which, so far, it does’t seem to be — Swift would be expected at the altar, not the 50-yard line. No firm date has leaked, but it’s the lone event that could explain an empty Arrowhead suite.

Of course, half the fun is wondering what she’ll wear if she does show. The 2023 seasonn was all Etsy knits and vintage Chiefs tees, an approachable “I’m just like you” uniform that fueled Etsy shops for months. Last year, Swift has drifted back into designer territory: logo bags, sharp jackets, and the kind of polished looks that scream “second season.” With The Life of a Showgirl dropping October 3, a little sparkle wouldn’t be off-brand — even if orange isn’t exactly game-day approved.

For now, though, the balance still tips toward Arrowhead. The Chiefs play the Eagles at 4:25 p.m. ET on FOX, and unless Gomez does in fact walk down the aisle today, odds are good Swift will be right back in that suite, cameras trained on her every cheer.
