Video: Jean Silva delivers cheap shot to Diego Lopes after losing at Noche UFC

Jean Silva did not think he was going to lose on Saturday, and he had a hard time dealing with it.

On Saturday, Silva squared off with Diego Lopes in the main event of Noche UFC in San Antonio. Heading into the fight, Silva promised to show he was levels above Lopes, but instead, “Lord” had a rude awakening as the former featherweight title challenger stopped him in the second round.

After a rough opening round, Silva looked like he was starting to take over in the second, using his dazzling combinations and exotic strikes to great effect. But Silva got a little too confident in his reckless style and walked right into a perfectly timed spinning elbow that sent him to the canvas. Lopes pounced and after a series of hammer fists, referee Mike Beltran stopped the fight.

But the action didn’t stop there.

As Lopes celebrated, Silva sat against the fence, a bloody mess with a huge knot swelling from his face. But as Lopes came near him, squatting to speak to someone outside the cage, Silva reached out and knocked the stool away from Lopes, then as Lopes moved away, stood up and tried to hit his foe in the back of the head.

Security quickly intervened to make sure the incident didn’t escalate further. In his post-fight interview with Daniel Cormier, Lopes even dismissed the incident, saying they were all good now.

It’s unclear at this time if Silva will face any repercussions for his actions. Historically, the UFC has taken swift action against fighters attacking opponents after the bout is over, most famously cutting Paul Daley after he hit Josh Koscheck following their fight at UFC 113.
