UPDATE: Timothy Craig Ramsey, 26, is in custody after the late night ambush shooting of a McCaysville police officer.
Multiple agencies contributed to the nearly 20-hour search. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation had issued a statewide Blue Alert Saturday morning.

Captain Brantley Worley was responding to a call for service around 11:10pm when he was shot, according to Chief Michael Earley of the McCaysville Police Department.

According to a Facebook post from the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Adairsville, Captain Worley suffered a broken neck and a brain bleed. EMS personnel airlifted him to Erlanger in Chattanooga.
The suspected shooter is Timothy Craig Ramsey, 26. He is approximately 5’11, weighs around 185 pounds, has long hair and blue eyes.

The department says he was last seen on foot in the area of 1st Street in McCaysville wearing a green top, dark-colored bottoms and a dark motorcycle helmet.
Ramsey is wanted for aggravated assault with intent to murder a police officer. He is considered armed and “extremely” dangerous.
“We strongly urge the public not to approach him,” Chief Earley stated. “If you see Timothy Craig Ramsey or have any information about his whereabouts, please dial 911 immediately.”
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation issued a Blue Alert Saturday morning.
Multiple other agencies have assisted in the manhunt, including the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office and several surrounding local, state, and federal partners.
“The safety of our community remains our top priority, and we will not rest until Timothy Ramsey is apprehended and justice is served,” Chief Earley stated.
Governor Brian Kemp took to X about the shooting:
“Marty, the girls, and I are asking all Georgians to join us in praying for this officer who was shot in the line of duty, as well as all law enforcement who face this kind of danger on a regular basis to protect their communities.”
