For a second or two, Jayden Reed’s Thursday night was going really well.
Reed, the Green Bay Packers receiver, caught what looked like a 39-yard touchdown on the first possession of the game against the Washington Commanders. It was a good start for Reed, who had a touchdown last week as well.

The good feelings didn’t last long. Safety Quan Martin landed on Reed to finish the play, and Reed was injured. He stayed down for a while, then was taken back to the locker room during the Commanders’ next series. He was shown on the Amazon Prime broadcast in the tunnel, his right arm at his side and in obvious pain.
To make it worse, the touchdown was called back. Tackle Anthony Belton held on the play. It came back, and the Packers had one of their top playmakers down on the ground in pain.

Reed was already dealing with a foot injury coming into the season. Another injury, along with the pain of having a long touchdown taken off the board, wasn’t the way Reed or the Packers wanted to start their Thursday night.
