So, millions of people were recently curious when TikToker @kaitlynnjb recorded herself unpacking the lunch her husband packed her after she forgot hers one day.
Her TikTok has gone so viral that it is being shared on multiple other platforms like Reddit, X, and Instagram, racking up tens of millions of views. @kaitlynnjb has since deleted the original video, but in it, she shared that her husband packed her a bag of cookies:
A nearly-empty bag of pretzels:
An entire container of chips:
Her two-day-old Chipotle:
And, lastly, a bag of dog food with two sticky notes. One said, “Because you’re my dawg,” and the other said, “Please bring back the dogs are low on food.”
Despite her laughter throughout, it was clear that many people had a different reaction…
Some people found it sad, actually:
And it reminded others of their previous failed relationships:
The lunch was thought of as lazy:
People said the lunch was symbolic of how much the husband loved her:
They were shocked he couldn’t even make a sandwich to add:
Then the topic of “weaponized incompetence” was brought up:
If you aren’t familiar with the term, weaponized incompetence is when someone pretends they don’t know how to do something just so they don’t have to do it. An example would be your partner loading the dishwasher wrong every single time, and when you bring it up, they just admit they’re bad, claiming you are better at doing it, so you should do it:
Basically, they’re capable of doing a task correctly, but they purposely do it wrong to get out of doing it:
Anyway, people said this lunch proved his lack of love:
And many think it paints a bad picture of marriage:
Soon, other wives went on to share the impressive lunches their husbands pack them:
Lots of women started making their own TikToks, sharing how satisfied they are every time their hubby packs it:
On the other hand, there were some people who found the original video very funny:
So those wives proved it by making similar videos, sharing their randomly-packed lunches by their husbands:
Videos are continuing to be made with thoughts about the whole thing, so @kaitlynnjb made a follow-up explainer. This TikTok now has over 2 million views, and she states, “So a few people, 30 million to be exact, and more, ’cause it’s been posted on other platforms, have seen the video of me unpacking the lunch, the dog food that my husband packed me. And most of you, half of you, 3/4, 75% hated it. You thought it was horrific, horrible. And the worst thing that’s ever happened to anybody…”
“Okay, number one, the dog food… Y’all are so pressed that he called me a ‘dog.’ He did not call me a D-O-G dog, DOG, like a dog that has a leash. He did not call me that. D-A-W-G, dog, as in homie. American slang for homie. It’s what we call each other. It’s a joke. J-O-K-E, joke. Y’all were also so pressed that he put it in my lunch box. That’s why he put it in a bag so it didn’t get on my food. This was at the bottom because he thought of it last, and he tried to hide it under the Chipotle, so that it would be a surprise, because it was funny. It was a joke. He was trying to make me laugh.”
Her explanation was met with a lot of backlash:
And people are still backing their original thoughts:
At the end of the day, I think a lot of women are thinking this…
But Kaitlynn made her thoughts on the situation clear, and we’ve reached out to her for more info. We will update you if she responds!
