Sleep Score will be compatible with these Apple Watch models

If you watched Apple’s “Awe Dropping” event, you probably came away thinking that the new Sleep Score feature would be exclusive to the new Apple Watch Series 11 and Ultra 3. Fortunately, that’s not the case. Here’s the full compatibility list.

How Sleep Score works

The feature grades your sleep based on factors such as duration, bedtime consistency, whether and how often you wake up, and time spent in each sleep stage (deep, core, and REM).

Once the score is calculated, Apple breaks it down into categories and compares each one to the user’s average data, making it easier to understand which aspects can be improved.

According to Apple, this new watchOS 26 feature was developed based on more than 5 million nights of sleep data from the Apple Heart and Movement Study. It was also informed by leading guidance from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the National Sleep Foundation, and the World Sleep Society.

Sleep Score will be available on these models

If you thought the new feature was exclusive to the new Apple Watch models, you’re certainly not alone.

But here’s the good news, according to Apple:

“Sleep score is available with watchOS 26 for Apple Watch Series 6 or later, Apple Watch SE (2nd generation) or later, and all Apple Watch Ultra models, paired with iPhone 11 or later, running iOS 26.”

This means that every watchOS 26-compatible Apple Watch will be getting the feature, although owners of older devices might need to figure out a new charging schedule to not run out of battery during the day and during the night.
