Apple debuts RC for macOS Tahoe, iPadOS 26, and more

For the past few months, beta testers have had access to early previews of Apple’s forthcoming major software updates.

These include iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS Tahoe, tvOS 26, and more.

Now, the RC (release candidate) versions of these software updates are available to beta testers too.

Apple hopes and expects that these RC builds will be the final shipping software that launches to all users.

However, the pre-release to beta testers is the for purpose of discovering any additional last-minute fixes that might need to be made before the wide launch.

If Apple discovers any critical issues in the days ahead following these RCs being available, it may choose to ship second RC builds in beta.

This is all for the goal of releasing the most stable, bug-free software possible when the public launches happen.

If you’ve been testing one of Apple’s forthcoming software releases in beta, you should see the RC build available now in the Settings app under General ⇾ Software Update.

What has your experience been like testing macOS Tahoe, iPadOS 26, and Apple’s other beta releases? Do they feel ready for public launch? Let us know in the comments.
