Boro Park to Be Sprayed for Mosquito Control Overnight Tuesday

By Y.M. Lowy
BoroPark24 has reported a scheduled mosquito spraying on September 4 after some mosquitoes carrying the West Nile Virus were detected. Now, infected mosquitoes have still been found in the neighborhood’s 11204, 11209, 11214, and 11219 zip codes.
To further reduce the mosquito population, the NYC Health Department will conduct truck spraying overnight in most of Boro Park on Tuesday, September 9, from 8:30 PM to 6:00 AM.
During the summer, the Health Department places traps throughout the city to collect adult mosquitoes. Weekly testing helps track the West Nile virus and detect the presence of other potential viruses
The pesticides used are considered low risk for people. Individuals who are sensitive to the spray may experience irritation in their eyes, throat, or skin for a short period. Those with asthma or breathing issues could also be affected. To stay safe, try to stay indoors as much as possible. If the spray comes into contact with your skin or clothes, wash immediately.
The spraying aims to keep Boro Park safe by controlling the mosquito population and lowering the risk of West Nile virus.
