Country music world praying after singer’s daughter dies at birth: ‘Cover them Jesus’

The country music world is praying this week for singer Drake White after he announced on social media Sunday that his newborn baby daughter died shortly after birth.

He shared the news in an Instagram post with his wife, Alex.

“On Sunday, August 31st our precious daughter, Della Elizabeth White, went peacefully to be with Jesus,” he wrote. “We are so thankful for the holy moments God gave us with her. The Lord has been so near and close to us during this difficult time. He has held us up and sustained us through it all. We are heartbroken and soul tired, but we know we will get through this difficult time with the strength, peace, and joy that only our Heavenly Father can provide.

“My Della be held in the arms of Jesus until we see her again someday.”

He then shared some scripture.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit — Psalm 34:18,” Whtie wrote. “I am dying from my grief; my years are shortened by sadness. Misery has drained my strength; I am wasting away from within. But I am trusting you, O Lord, saying, “You are my God!” My future is in your hands. – Psalm 31:10, 14-15.”

White finished the statement by writing out his daughter’s information.

“Della Elizabeth White,” he wrote. “29 weeks. 3lbs, 3.5 ox, 13.25 in. Born: Sunday, August 31st 2025 at 8:52 AM and peacefully went to be with Jesus at 9:12 AM.”

Country music stars and fans of the singer responded with love and prayer.

“My heart aches for you,” Lauren Alaina replied. “Sending so much love and prayer your way.”

“Love you buddy,” Chase Rice wrote.

“I am so sorry,” Jessie James Decker replied. “I love you and I’m praying for you all. No one should ever go through this kind of pain. I know your sweet girl will always be in your heart and watching over you.”

“I am so very incredibly sorry to hear this,” Terri Clark wrote. “Heartbroken for you both. Sending you both love. No one should ever have to go through the loss of a child.”

“I am so sorry,” RaeLynn wrote. “Praying for you 3. Jesus is near the broken hearted! Cover them Jesus.”

The couple shared the news of the pregnancy back in May with People Magazine. The couple conceived Della via IVF, and she was due in November. They already have a son, William Hawk, who was also conceived via IVF.

Country Now reported that both Alex and Drake have been through tough times across the past couple years. The site said that drake suffered a stroke while performing in 2019, and that Alex was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and a rare neurological disorder called chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy back in 2020.
