UFC CEO Dana White has big plans for the promotion’s White House visit.
This past July, President Donald Trump shocked the MMA community when he announced plans to host a UFC event at the White House to celebrate July 4 weekend in 2026, the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence. Soon after, White confirmed that there have been legitimate talks to make the show happen.
On Friday, The Wall Street Journal reported new details for the event, including having the UFC octagon set up on the south lawn of the White House and that fireworks and light shows will be utilized to enhance the festivities.
Further details reported by WSJ include the possibility that fighters will actually warm up inside the White House before walking out for their bouts and that a day prior to fight night, they will weigh in at the Lincoln Memorial. Fan events are also expected to take place during fight week across the National Mall.
White has spoken publicly about the logistical difficulties of holding a UFC event at the White House, ranging from where to set up the promotion’s famous octagon and the high level of security involved, but throughout the process he has been adamant that UFC White House will take place next July.
Several fighters have volunteered to be part of the lineup, including recently retired two-division champion Jon Jones, and Conor McGregor, who remains a major box office draw despite not competing since 2021.
