Legendary’s Street Fighter movie is in full production, with a release date scheduled for 16th October, 2026.
The film, which will be the first of a three year alliance between the filmmaker and Paramount, will be set in 1993 – around the same time the legendary Street Fighter 2 dominated arcades.
As we’ve been reporting for a while, the cast list is crazy, so here’s the final line-up:

There are some deep cuts here: Don Sauvage, for example, is a character believed to be based on someone spotted in the background of Balrog’s stage in Super Street Fighter 2. He’s since been written into the lore as an associate of Zangief, as glimpsed in Street Fighter 5’s story mode.
We now also have a plot synopsis, which teases how both Ryu and Ken will be thrust into the World Warrior Tournament, where they’ll need to “face off against each other and the demons of their past”.
It reads:
“Set in 1993, estranged Street Fighters Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) are thrown back into combat when the mysterious Chun-Li (Callina Liang) recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament: a brutal clash of fists, fate, and fury. But behind this battle royale lies a deadly conspiracy that forces them to face off against each other and the demons of their past. And if they don’t, it’s GAME OVER!”
For those who missed prior announcements, Bad Trip’s Kitao Sakurai has been recruited to direct this movie, which is a good start as far as we’re concerned.
We must admit, the cast graphics being rendered in the style of Street Fighter 2’s iconic character select screen leads us to believe the makers of this movie may understand their assignment.
Personally, we’ve got high hopes for this.
