Customer who went for Brazilian wax horrified after noticing beautician wearing Meta’s video glasses

A woman was left in shock after she went in for a Brazilian wax – only to find that her service provider was wearing Meta‘s Ray-Ban AI glasses.

Aniessa Navarro, a New York City-based influencer with over 100,000 followers, took to TikTok recently to share her story, explaining that she was completely caught off guard after going in for a treatment.

Navarro shared that this ‘haunting’ experience happened at a European Wax Center in New York City, but declined to reveal the exact location.

‘I’ve been going to European Wax Center for years, I’m not even kidding, maybe eight years at this point, maybe nine years at this point,’ Navarro prefaced the video.

However, this time, she noticed something different.

‘The girl that was giving me the wax… she was wearing Meta glasses, and I didn’t notice it at first, because we were talking so much, we had good banter, she was very nice,’ Navarro explained.

‘And then it was like, maybe like halfway, five minutes in or so, I’m like looking at her, and I’m looking at her glasses, and then I’m like, “Are you wearing Meta glasses?”‘ she asked.

‘She’s like, “Oh, yeah, I am, but they’re not charged, they’re not on, like, I promise,'” Navarro said.

Meta AI glasses have a built-in camera, which means that users can take pictures and videos with the wearable piece of tech.

The glasses also come with a bluetooth speaker, and allow their wearers to make calls and dictate texts by using voice commands.

Navarro said that even though the waxer had promised her the glasses were off, she still felt incredibly uneasy.

‘I could not stop thinking, like, “Could this girl be recording me?”‘ the influencer recalled.

‘I literally could not stop thinking about it the whole entire time, and then I walked out and I left,’ she said.

Navarro explained that she had been thinking about the incident ‘so much’ recently and wasn’t sure what to do.

‘What if she has that video and what if there’s been multiple video she’s taken of waxing people, and that could go into a whole other thing of where those videos could be, but I just don’t know what I should do,’ she said.

‘It’s been making me sick the last couple weeks thinking about it,’ Navarro said.

‘She told me that they are prescription, but you have to have another pair of glasses, those shouldn’t be your main ones.’

Daily Mail reached out to Navarro and European Wax Center for comment.

In a follow-up video, Navarro said that she reached out to the company via email and received back what she considered to be a ‘generic’ response.

In a comment to The Washington Post about the matter, a representative for European Wax Center claimed that the waxer’s glasses were ‘powered off at the time of service.’

Navarro shared that she had contacted two law firms about the incident, though the influencer maintained that she didn’t want to get anyone fired or ‘ruin someone’s life.’

‘I hope in regard to me speaking out about this is that these glasses get banned from a room like that,’ she said.

In the comments section of her follow-up video, many people sided with Navarro, and said her concerns were valid.

‘If she can afford prescription Meta glasses, she can afford one pair of cheap regular prescription glasses for her job,’ one person wrote.

‘Cameras can get hacked. Ring cameras have gotten hacked in the past. Even if the camera wasn’t turned on by the user it can get turned on if hacked. Personally I don’t think any cameras or recording devices should be allowed in areas like that,’ someone else typed.

‘She shouldn’t wear glasses with a recording device on them while in a private setting regardless,’ a TikTok user seconded.
