Footage of Battlefield 6’s upcoming battle royale mode has leaked online, giving players their best look yet at the huge map and some of the mechanics set to appear in the mode.
On top of the usual selections of maps and modes, Battlefield 6 is also set to bring a new Firestorm battle royale mode. Although this isn’t launching with the full game on October 10, fans are already hoping it has the staying power to compete with the likes of Warzone.
Now, gameplay of the Battlefield battle royale mode has surfaced online, giving us our first real look at the sprawling map, many locations, and even some of the gameplay features we’ll be using to our advantage.
Battlefield 6 leak gives fans best look yet at Firestorm BR mode
The footage first appeared on Chinese video-sharing platform Bilibili, but has since been doing the rounds on social media.
It shows a player parachuting into the large map, which looks far from finished in the video, but it still offers a look at its overall vibe. It appears to be a fairly sunny location, complete with palm trees and clear blue waters, which adds credibility to the rumored setting of California.
We don’t see the player fighting with any enemy teams, but they do poke around a number of interesting POIs. These include a golf course, a runway and hangar, and even a small town by the water.
Destruction has always been a key part of the Battlefield formula, and this leak confirms that it will be crucial in Firestorm as well.
At 2:10, you can see the player using a sledgehammer to smash a hole in a building wall, before the entire thing starts to collapse. However, at the four-minute mark, they try again in a different building, and the hammer has no effect, so it remains to be seen how widespread the destruction will be.
We also catch a brief glimpse at some of the ways you can traverse the map. Not only is there swimming for crossing stretches of water, but there are also ziplines placed around to quickly get from one point to another.
Of course, there will also likely be a host of vehicles to travel large distances quickly, but it’s good to know there are still plenty of options if you’re stuck on foot.
Keep in mind that this is all based on a leak, so there’s every chance that DICE will make changes before the mode officially arrives. For more, be sure to check out everything else we know about the Battlefield 6 battle royale so far.
