Heading into the eighth week of Big Brother 27, Katherine Woodman had just been evicted by a 7-1 vote over Ava Pearl. The fine dining server was not the initial target of Head of Household Vince Panaro, but when Mickey Lee used her Veto to pull herself off the chopping block, Katherine became collateral damage. So, who won the all-important HOH competition, and which three houseguests did they nominate for eviction?
Read on for our recap of Big Brother Season 27, Episode 25, which aired Sunday, Aug. 31 on CBS. This season’s theme is the “Summer of Mystery” and the house has been transformed into the Hotel Mystère, where secrets lurk behind every corner. The players still in the running to win the $750,000 grand prize are:

We begin where Thursday’s episode left off, with Katherine leaving the house after a tearful goodbye with her house bestie, Lauren. The 22-year-old bridal consultant has seen her whole side of the house get wiped out ever since using the Veto to save Vince during Rachel’s HOH reign, which led to the eviction of Rylie Jeffries. Can Lauren stage a comeback? Or will the five-person Judges alliance of Vince, Rachel, Morgan, Will, and Ashley maintain control? It’s time to find out.
Following Katherine’s eviction, Lauren is in tears again — it’s the third week in a row one of her allies has been sent packing.
Kelley celebrates her Block Buster win with the line of the night: “I’ve got bitches quackin’!” Meanwhile, Morgan is focused on keeping the Judges alliance alive, but Vince is struggling after losing Katherine on his HOH. He calls it a “complete failure” and worries this could sink his game.
Elsewhere, Rachel is reminding everyone that she warned them about Kelley’s puzzle skills back when she was on the block against Jimmy Heagerty — but no one listened, and now Kelley’s proving her point.
Keanu recruits allies
Keanu is done playing nice. He’s tired of watching his allies go home because of Vince’s moves, and he’s ready to switch things up. Later, he catches up with Kelley, calling her his “most trusted ally.” Kelley agrees and admits Vince has never had her back. She feels guilty for doubting Keanu before, but now she says she’s “unwavering.”
Keanu then checks in with Rachel to clear the air. He promises he has no intention of putting her on the block, but Rachel doesn’t let him off easy. “You did backstab me and try to get me renommed and evicted,” she reminds him, pointing out they once had a final two deal. Keanu admits he backstabbed her because he thought she was using him as a shield. Rachel shoots back, “How can you be a shield when I’m a bigger target?”
In the Diary Room, Rachel admits she’s stuck. With Morgan and Vince paired up and Ashley and Will working together, she’s the fifth wheel — which means, for now, teaming up with Keanu might be her only option.
Mystere Moments
Ava notices the memory wall has disappeared, replaced with the words “Mystere Moments.” The houseguests gather around as clips of BB bloopers start playing across the screen. Everyone’s convinced this ties into the upcoming HOH competition, so they’re locked in, trying to memorize every detail.
Soon after, it’s time for the HOH competition. As the outgoing HOH, Vince has to sit this one out. The challenge is simple but stressful: the houseguests will face a series of True or False questions based on what they just saw on the Mystere Moments wall.
The HOH competition comes down to the wire. Will is the first one out in Round 1, followed by Mickey and Rachel in Round 2. Lauren drops in Round 3, and then Ashley, Ava, and Morgan are all eliminated in Round 4. It all comes down to Keanu and Kelley in the final round — and Keanu pulls off the win. He’s the new Head of Household!
Houseguests scramble
Keanu is ready to set the course for the final stretch of his game, but not everyone’s thrilled about his new HOH reign. Vince and Rachel are both worried about where they stand, while Kelley is relieved — after spending more time on the block than anyone, she finally feels safe alongside her closest ally.
Keanu tells Kelley that Morgan is his main target this week, believing sending her home will finally make Vince “pull his head out of his ass.” Later, he chats with Rachel and admits he despises Ashley but won’t nominate her to keep Rachel happy. He also guarantees Rachel’s safety, and she reminds him that when she was HOH, she kept him off the block.
Rachel immediately fills Ashley in on Keanu’s promise, leaving Ashley cautiously optimistic. Meanwhile, Vince is spiraling and turns to Morgan for comfort. Morgan reassures him there’s still a chance all five Judges can survive the week — as long as they can get Mickey out. She’s convinced Keanu plans to nominate Mickey, Ava, and Ashley.
Vince has another meltdown
Keanu sits down with Vince and makes it clear: Morgan is his target, and Vince is the only person who would actually use the Veto on her. Vince pleads for safety, looking absolutely desperate, but Keanu isn’t buying it. He tells Vince he loves him — and then immediately says he doesn’t believe a word he’s saying.
What follows is basically a full-on verbal smackdown, the one Vince has arguably deserved all season. As Vince bursts into tears, crying, “I’m going home!” Keanu fires back, “Make sure you don’t!” There’s zero sympathy left for Vince’s waterworks — Keanu is officially done coddling him.
Keanu finalizes his nominees
Rachel and Keanu sit down for another chat, where Rachel asks about his goals for the season and reassures him of her loyalty. “I know you don’t believe that,” she says, but Keanu surprises her by saying he regrets trying to get her nominated last week. Rachel apologizes for getting Rylie evicted, and just like that, the two make amends — Rachel and Keanu are officially back on the same page.
Meanwhile, Vince tells Morgan they’re probably both headed for the block and, once again, bursts into tears. Morgan consoles him…awkward! She then goes to Keanu for a conversation of her own, hoping to change his mind. Keanu tells her the reason he doesn’t trust her is because she told Rachel he targeted her last week. Morgan denies it, and Keanu immediately fires back, “Well, then Vinny did.”
Keanu isn’t interested in anything Morgan has to say. In the Diary Room, he guarantees she’s going on the block — no debate, no second chances. At the nomination ceremony, Keanu makes true on his promise. The nominees are Morgan, Vince, and Mickey. The Power of Veto will play out on Wednesday!
