ESPN’s Lee Corso will don his infamous headgear pick for the final time Saturday and in a historic move, Fox will also televise Corso’s final headgear selection, Ohio State sources told On3.
Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff will show Corso’s pick from inside Ohio Stadium before Saturday’s Texas at Ohio State game, a source said. Fox declined to comment when reached.
Ohio State will display Corso’s pick on the school’s Jumbotron and will not utilize ESPN’s feed, a source said.
“You will be able to see and experience what the fans inside the stadium are experiencing,” a source said.
Saturday’s blockbuster matchup between No. 1 Texas and No. 3 Ohio State will be televised on Fox with a noon ET kickoff. Corso’s 431st and final headgear pick will be shortly before kickoff.
Besides showing Corso’s final headgear selection, Fox’s Tom Rinaldi and Chris Fallica are also expected to have a Corso tribute during Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff. Rinaldi and Fallica, both part of Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff, had worked together for several years with Corso at ESPN.
“Fox felt it was important to celebrate college football and what Lee Corso meant to growing the game,” a Big Ten source said.
Corso has been a fixture on ESPN College GameDay since 1987. The former player and coach turned analyst will retire after Saturday’s selection at the blockbuster showdown of No. 1 Texas and No. 3 Ohio State.
