Since last year, Google Vids has only been available to Workspace customers, and is now rolling out to free users.
Vids is a video creation tool in the style of Google Slides with a browser-based interface, collaborative editing, and generative AI tools (if you’re a paying customer).
All free accounts will have access to the basic Vids editor. Similar to Slides, there are over a hundred templates like how-to, documentary, and celebrations. You can also create a video by converting a Google Slides presentation, uploading existing clips, or recording yourself.
During the process, you can add images, stock media, audio, objects, and more, with the ability to customize transitions. Once done, you can share via link or download the MP4 file.

If you’re a subscriber, Gemini in Google Vids lets you enter a prompt to create an outline and generate clips with Veo 3 or pictures with Imagen 4. New today is an image-to-video capability, as well as automatic transcript trim to remove filler words and awkward pauses.
AI avatars that can read out a script are now generally available. They feature accurate lip syncing powered by Google DeepMind models and are aimed at use cases like companies making support videos, trainings, demos, and more.
Next month Google Vids will get noise cancellation, while portrait, landscape, and square formats are coming next quarter.
