The Best Sales We’ve Found Today

Labor Day weekend is almost here. If you were planning on doing some shopping over the long weekend, the good news is that you can start pretty much right now: Almost all of the Labor Day sales are now live across major retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, Wayfair, and more. Whether you’re picking up something spontaneously for yourself or are hoping to save some money on a big-ticket item before fall, now is a great time to do so.

I’ve been covering Labor Day sales for years and have found that the best recommendations I can make are strategies on specific categories and places to shop rather than what specific deals are worth your attention. Not every retailer or brand participates in these holiday discounts, but I’ve gathered together the ones that do.

The Best Labor Day Retailer Sales Live Now

Which sale should you shop first?

There is no one sale that has everything, but if you’re looking for the broadest array of discounts, the Amazon Labor Day sale is your best bet. I’ve been able to find some sort of deal on just about everything on Amazon, and the daily lightning deals have been a good source of new price drops as well. So if you’re looking to save money on things you need, this is where I’d suggest you start your shopping before branching out further.

What to Buy During Labor Day Sales

Years of experience has taught us that some product categories are more likely to have good Labor Day discounts than others. Our recommendations for what to buy during Labor Day sales stem from a mix of historical pricing as well as what sales we are already seeing right now.

Furniture

Labor Day historically has some of the best prices on furniture you’ll find all year. You should be able to find deals on popular standing desks, gaming chairs, and more. Retailers are also heavily discounting outdoor furniture as the summer season comes to a close. Wayfair has some of the best overall furniture deals online right now, but you can also find discounts on other brands from Target, Amazon, or directly from furniture brands. If you’re looking for a gaming chair specifically, I’d recommend checking out the Secretlab Labor Day sale.

Video Games

Although video games haven’t traditionally been major sale items during Labor Day weekend, 2025 seems to be different. We’re already seeing Switch deals at Best Buy and a ton of PC games on sale at Humble Bundle. Even PlayStation has joined in on the discounts with its Ready, Set, Play sale.

Laptops, PCs, and Tablets

Back-to-school season is generally an excellent time to buy a laptop or a new PC. Because of this, it’s also a great time to buy any PC accessories. Manufacturers like Dell, Lenovo, and HP all currently have sales going on now you can take advantage of. Outside of those brands, Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart all have deals available on this product category. Surprisingly, Walmart has had the best gaming PC deals so far, but we’ll likely see more discount throughout the weekend.

If you’re looking for discounts on tablets specifically, I’d suggest looking at older generations or refurbished models.

Monitors and TVs

If you’re hoping to buy a new screen for your console, PC, or laptop, right now is one of the best times of the year to buy a gaming monitor. Thanks to many of the same manufacturer sales happening around laptops and PCs, you can also find lower prices on some of the most popular gaming monitors. Deals on TVs and monitors haven’t been as impressive as previous years, but there are still significant discounts available on tons of brands.

Major Appliances and Grills

Although Black Friday is generally the best time to buy most things, major appliances are one of the few items where you’ll find better deals during holiday weekends like Labor Day, Presidents Day, or Memorial Day. Retailers like Home Depot, Lowe’s, LG, and Best Buy all have appliance sales live and you can find savings on refrigerators, washing machines, grills, and more.

Mattresses

Holiday weekends are a consistently great time to buy a mattress. Every major online mattress retailer has some sort of promotion any time there’s a three-day weekend, and Labor Day is no different. You can currently find a decent mattresses for really cheap if you don’t mind buying from a bed-in-a-box brand like Casper or DreamCloud.

Clothing

As we make the transition to fall and back-to-school shopping reaches its peak, Labor Day weekend becomes one of the best times all year to find discounts on clothes. Major retailers like Old Navy and Macy’s already have sales live, and many smaller brands have launched sales too as we get closer to Labor Day.

Outdoor Gear

Similar to clothing retailers, outdoor shops always have significant discounts as the seasons change. Labor Day marks the transition between summer and fall, meaning you can usually find some amazing deals on camping gear and other warm-weather equipment. REI is perhaps the most notable place to shop, and its Labor Day sale is already live live right now.

Books

Labor Day weekend is a surprisingly good time to shop for books. This is largely thanks to the huge Barnes & Noble sale that happens every year, but Amazon is also currently offering quite a few deals on hardcovers that are worthwhile.

LEGO Sets

Although Labor Day sales haven’t traditionally been the best time to buy LEGO sets, we are seeing some surprisingly good deals this year that we didn’t expect. Barnes & Noble is including LEGO deals as part of its sale, and Target is dropping prices on Star Wars sets. The LEGO Store is also offering a double points promotion for a limited time to insiders only if you’re just looking to buy the latest sets and get a bonus.

Headphones and Speakers

Headphones, speakers, and soundbars are unsurprisingly some of the best things to buy during Labor Day. One of the best sales you can shop right now is the Sonos Labor Day sale, which has dropped prices on popular speakers. Both Amazon and Best Buy also have some decent headphone deals on other brands, though the prices aren’t as good as Prime Day earlier this year.

Coffee Makers

Labor Day sales have traditionally been an excellent time to find coffee makers at lower prices every year, and from what we’ve seen so far, 2025 is no different. Walmart, Target, and Amazon are all offering low prices on both single-serve coffee makers and standard drip options.

What Not to Buy During Labor Day Sales

The general rule with any sale is not to buy anything that isn’t discounted. Beyond that, there are a couple of different products that just aren’t worth buying right now. The first major one is video game consoles. Right now is generally not the time to buy a new console, and recent price increases might deter you even further. If you want a new PS5 or Nintendo Switch 2 with some sort of discount attached, you should definitely wait for Black Friday later this year.

The other major category I’d generally suggest you avoid shopping during Labor Day sales is a new phone. Fall is generally when we expect the release of a new iPhone, and the latest Google Pixel model was just announced. If you aren’t planning on buying a new phone right when they get released, it’s definitely worth waiting until Black Friday for better deals on older generations.
