NFL teams were required to cut their rosters down to 53 players today. The Washington Commanders cut 36 players and moved Sam Cosmi to the Reserve/PUP list to form their initial 53-man roster, but they are not done making changes to the roster.
Teams will be able to form 16 player practice squads tomorrow after 12pm. Waiver claims will be processed until 12pm, and any players claimed have to be signed to that team’s roster. The Commanders can have a 17th practice squad member by signing DE TJ Maguranyanga who was the team’s International Player Pathway program player.
Washington holds the No. 29 spot on the waiver priority list, and they are expected to make a few moves over the next few days.. Vested veterans can be signed by any other team immediately or at any time after their release and do not go through the waiver process at this point in the league year.
Follow along here as we track all the moves.
