EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings on Tuesday placed fullback C.J. Ham and outside linebacker Tyler Batty on Injured Reserve-Designated to Return.
The moves occurred during roster reductions and mean both players must miss at least the first four games of the season. Teams can designate up to eight players for returning from Injured Reserve during a regular season (plus two more players if a team makes the playoffs).
Ham has been a valuable member of the Vikings offense and special teams since 2017, when he was elevated to the active roster. He initially joined Minnesota on a tryout basis in 2016 and spent that season on the practice squad.
Last season, Ham helped Aaron Jones, Sr., rack up a career-high 1,138 rushing yards on 255 carries. He played in all 17 regular-season games, totaling 262 offensive snaps and 282 special teams snaps.
Ham has been a reliable presence throughout his career, missing just two regular-season games over eight seasons.
Selected as a team captain from 2021-24, Ham has been a leader both on and off the field.
Batty joined Minnesota this spring as an undrafted free agent out of BYU. He started in last week’s preseason finale at Tennessee but left the game early.
Additionally, Minnesota placed receiver Jordan Addison on the Reserve/Suspended list, where he will be through the first three games of 2025. The Vikings also moved rookie tight end Gavin Bartholomew from Active/Physically Unable to Perform to Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform.
