The Expanse Cast Will Reprise Their Roles For Osiris Reborn

The Expanse: Osiris Reborn is Owlcat Games’ most ambitious title yet – a third-person sci-fi RPG based on the beloved television series, and undoubtedly a technical step-up from the studio’s past titles.

At Gamescom, I had the opportunity to see Osiris Reborn in a hands-off preview conducted by creative director Alexander Mishulin and game design director Leonid Rastorguev. The pair showed me an early game mission aboard the space station of a paramilitary force.

My full impressions from my hands-off preview of The Expanse: Osiris Reborn will be live later this week.

I was intrigued to see James Holden’s broadcast message from Season One, Episode Two playing on the screens within the space station. As we saw in the show, Holden has implicated Mars in an attack on his ship, the Canterbury, causing a galaxy-wide controversy.

Mishulin was quick to chime in, saying the events of Osiris Reborn begin shortly after Holden’s broadcast. While not immediately after, the video is still being constantly circulated, and people continue to discuss the implications of Holden’s accusations.

Interconnected

Osiris Reborn is an independent story of the television series, but there’s more interconnectivity than people may have predicted. The two stories happen concurrently, and Rastorguev even revealed that a few characters from the show are set to appear in Osiris Reborn.

“It’s worth mentioning that we meet some characters from the show in the game,” he tells me. “And some of them will be voiced by their original actors from the show… and they’ll be giving their appearance to those characters with digital scanning.”

The pair did not specify which characters are set to appear, but any member of the Rocinante’s crew is a possibility.

Owlcat has recreated James Holden for the aforementioned broadcast message, but without any original voice work, so this doesn’t necessarily mean that Steven Strait is involved.

Cara Gee, who plays Camina Drummer, appears in The Expanse: A Telltale Series, so she is definitely a potential inclusion in Osiris Reborn, given that she’s been willing to reprise her role for a video game in the past.

The Expanse: Osiris Reborn doesn’t currently have a firm release date, so we’ll have to wait and see who Owlcat has enlisted from the show to feature in the upcoming game.
