Samsung rolling out One UI with Now Brief to select appliances

Starting in September, Samsung will be rolling out new software updates to its various appliances which includes One UI unification and new features such as Now Brief.

One UI was originally just for Samsung’s phones and tablets, but it’s expanded over the years to smartwatches and, more recently, TVs. Now, Samsung is bringing the experience over to appliances. Of course, this doesn’t necessarily mean all of these appliances are suddenly getting a full version of Android. Rather, “One UI” in this cases refers to the general design, features, etc.

In a post, Samsung explains that some of its connected appliances – such as refrigerators – will be adding new features and updated designs in line with One UI on phones. One of the most notable additions is Now Brief, which first debuted on the Galaxy S25 series.

With One UI, Samsung is unifying the user experience for the product categories of mobile devices, TVs and home appliances through the application of consistent design elements and functionality. This includes Apps & Services like Bixby, Gallery and Samsung TV Plus, which are being made available across various types of screens to enable seamless device interaction and media consumption. Device Connectivity is also enhanced through SmartThings, integrating the home’s devices into a unified ecosystem with easy access to helpful services like Family Care, Pet Care and Home Care. When it comes to Common UI, users will get the benefit of familiar interfaces like Now Brief, which deliver personalized and relevant information at a glance. Now Brief offers family members a curated selection of useful content, including daily weather updates, family schedules, tailored recipes and home insights such as how much time is left on the washing machine.

The rollout begins in September with Samsung appliances that launched in 2024 first, expanding beyond that over time. Also new is a 7-year software commitment for Samsung’s connected home appliances, starting with the 2024 model years.

Some of Samsung’s 2025 appliances already have One UI in place.
