Dean Cain’s ’embarrassing’ ICE training routine mocked online

Actor Dean Cain

Actor Dean Cain’s training routine, which he’s undertaking prior to becoming a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent, has been branded “embarrassing” by people online.

Cain played the Man of Steel in TV’s Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman between 1993 and 1997, and was clearly not a fan of the latest reboot of the super-hero story, calling James Gunn’s film “woke”

Commenting on the core message of the franchise, Cain said: “Superman has always stood for ‘truth, justice and the American way,’ and the ‘American way’ is immigrant friendly, tremendously immigrant friendly.

“But there are rules. You can’t come in saying, ‘I want to get rid of all the rules in America, because I want it to be more like Somalia.’ Well that doesn’t work, because you had to leave Somalia to come here.

“There have to be limits, because we can’t have everybody in the United States. We can’t have everybody, society will fail. So there have to be limits,” he repeated.

Earlier this month, he revealed that he was joining ICE, who have been looking to fill 10,000 new positions. They have received some 80,000 applications, according to secretary of homeland security Kristi Noem.

But a clip of Dean Cain in training, posted by ICE, hasn’t gone down well with viewers who have said it was so “embarrassing” that the federal agency must have been “trying to make him look bad”.

The video shows Cain tackling an obstacle course, included jumping over a fence, crawling through a pipe on all fours, and dragging a dummy, as part of the training to become an honorary officer.

“My mother could do better on that course and she’s 76″

One person on X/Twitter wrote: “Oh, man. Embarrassing for Dean Cain. ICE posting his training session like it’s some kind of ‘Man of Steel’ flex. It tracks with the incompetent, under-trained ICE agents we’re seeing on the streets.”

Someone else asked: “Are they trying to make him look bad?” while others said: “My mother could do better on that course and she’s 76,” and “Dean Cain, the has-been who played an undocumented alien superhero, now pathetically grunting through a playground course to shill for ICE’s deportation squad, talk about super hypocrisy.”

But that wasn’t all the fun social media users had.

Another captioned a repost of the clip: “I’m a 69-year-old woman who is in moderate shape and I think I could at least tie him on this course. But you don’t need to be in shape to kidnap grandmas off the street or run a gulag.”

Despite Cain’s negative comments about DC’s latest Superman film, by the beginning of this month it had taken a very impressive $551 million (£408 million) at the worldwide box office.
