The Sheer Presence of Hollow Knight: Silksong Is Delaying PS5 Indie Games

Hollow Knight: Silksong / Demonschool

The promising old-school Persona-like Demonschool has been delayed by more than two months, and it’s all because of Hollow Knight: Silksong. Team Cherry announced the long-awaited sequel will release on 4th September 2025, and Demonschool was set to launch the day before. To avoid the release, Demonschool now comes out on 19th November.

In a press release, Ysbryd Games said that making sure Demonschool receives as much exposure and attention as possible is its main goal. “Thus, the Ysbryd team strongly believes we would not be doing our game any favors by wading into waters we can clearly see are blood red. If the September period is going to be Silksong’s moment, then we need to be elsewhere on the calendar to give Demonschool its own moment to be seen and talked about meaningfully.”

The studio said it had every intention of launching on 3rd September, but after “anguished consideration”, it’s decided to delay the release after discovering the Hollow Knight: Silksong release date on such short notice.

Other indie titles that have announced they will be delaying their release dates as a result of Hollow Knight: Silksong are Aeterna Lucis, CloverPit, and Stomp and the Sword of Miracles.

As a result of the delay, the team will use the extra time to improve the game further and make some post-launch content that it had planned, part of the base game. This includes additional endings and minigames.

Demonschool is designed to play like a more traditional Persona game, and has you “defeat big weirdos in between the human and demon worlds as Faye and her misfit companions, while navigating university life on a mysterious island”.

The title will now launch for PS5, PS4 on 19th November, and the press release confirms there won’t be any more delays beyond that.
