Britney Spears Reflects on ‘Hardest Years’ of Her Life

Britney Spears shared a raw glimpse into her personal life, particularly about her former marriage and the pain of being apart from her sons.

The music icon once again commanded attention with her online presence, but this time it was not about her sultry dance moves, but a look into her struggles.

In an Instagram post, the “Baby One More Time” hitmaker shared a risqué photo of herself showing a tattoo on her lower back in a dramatic sunset.

Behind the striking snap, she shared her thoughts about the “hardest years” of her life and how she terribly misses being with her two sons.

“We’re just people so fragile and human. The hardest years of my life were my two sons gone for those 3 years … I was cut off from calling or texting and I remember in shock my secret to survival was denial and a lot of tears,” she wrote.

Apart from this, the award-winning singer also made a rare comment about her marriage to ex-husband Sam Asghari.

Spears described her marriage as something that felt like a “fake distraction” to help her “Deal” with her kids.

The “Toxic” singer also talked about her hopes for “healing,” escaping the trauma from her past and a sense of freedom.

“Well, I know I’m healing because I’m hungry again like a child or baby… I’m so hungry it hurts and when I eat, it’s like it’s my first time ever eating in my life … I believe, although I loved my home, there is waaay too much abuse and trauma in there…. Today I thank Jesus for food, it feels like telling others NO… Owning my body… and letting them REALLY know where I’m from… My soul has never experienced food like this a day in my life… so silly and embarrassing I’m going to eat cookies and cream ice cream now…god bless u all,” Spears added.

The ‘90s icon shares her two teenage sons, Sean Preston and Jayden, with her ex-husband Kevin Federline, whom she married in 2004 but called it quits after two years.

Following the marriage fallout, Spears experienced personal struggles that affected her mental health. Unfortunately, it caused her to lose custody of their two children.

During the period of her conservatorship, she met Sam Asghari in 2016, who played her love interest in her “Slumber Party” music video.

It was only after a year that their relationship blossomed privately and became Instagram official in 2017.

Their engagement came in 2021, with the couple tying the knot in 2022. The wedding guests included Selena Gomez, Drew Barrymore, Madonna and Paris Hilton.

Unfortunately, they filed for divorce in 2023 and it was only finalized a year later, noting that the decision was “amicable and the prenup was not challenged,” a source told PEOPLE.
