The Buffalo Bills have until 4 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26, to trim their roster down to 53 players.
Buffalo began the process on Sunday, less than 24 hours after the team defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 23-19 in the preseason finale.
Here’s a look at the players who were released by the team.

- DE Nelson Ceaser
- DB Garnett Hollis Jr.
- OL Rush Reimer
- TE Matt Sokol
- RB Elijah Young
- S Tre Herndon
Wide receiver Grant DuBose was also listed as waived/injured by the team after suffering a collarbone injury in practice this week.
Alexander, Young and Reimer were all signed to the roster this Wednesday. Reimer had previously been on the 90-man roster, but was released earlier in the summer.
Despite their limited time in Buffalo, Alexander and Young both performed well for the Bills on Saturday night. Alexander recorded a forced fumble in the game that linebacker Jimmy Ciarlo recovered. Young, meanwhile, rushed for 53 yards on 16 carries while adding 40 yards receiving on three receptions. Alexander, the former LSU product, also registered an interception in practice on Thursday for the Bills.
Difficult decisions loom for the Bills in multiple position rooms. Buffalo could have some flexibility in creating their initial 53-man roster, however, depending on what they do with some injured players. Cornerbacks Max Hairston and Tre’Davious White are both candidates for the injured reserve, and reserve center Sedrick Van Pran-Granger could also miss time at the start of the season due to an injury that has kept him out of action all summer. The team will also have two extra roster spots with defensive end Michael Hoecht and defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi being placed on the league’s reserved/suspended list for the first six weeks of the season.
