Las Vegas Raiders News: Raiders are in the search for a new back up QB

The Las Vegas Raiders had their preseason finale on Saturday. It ended in a 20-10 loss to the Arizona Cardinals and left them winless in the preseason, but they might have even bigger losses after the game.

During the game, Aidan O’Connell fumbled after a Cardinals defensive player stripped him, leading to a turnover. Head coach Pete Carroll announced that O’Connell suffered a fractured wrist and will be out 6-8 weeks.

Even though O’Connell was not playing well, it leaves a big hole in the quarterback room. Cam Miller had a good performance in Week 1 of the preseason, but has not played well in the following two games. Carroll did not give a ringing endorsement for him as the backup going forward.

With the Raiders without a quality backup, they will hit the waiver wire and free-agent market for an upgrade. There could be intriguing options on waivers, especially with teams overloaded at quarterback like the Cleveland Browns or the Los Angeles Chargers. Fans should never want to see the second-string QB on the field, but having none could ruin a season.
