Sophie Turner is not looking back. In a new interview, the Game of Thrones star made it plain that her 2023 move back to the U.K. isn’t temporary. “I just feel so at home here; I never want to move again,” she said, adding that being close to her childhood friends and her two young daughters, Willa and Delphine, following her messy split from ex Joe Jonas, has made all the difference.
“Living in the States, I didn’t appreciate how much you need friends and family and how integral they are to your wellness until you’re away from them,” she explained to Flaunt. “I came back with an abundance of appreciation for them.”

On paper, it’s a personal decision — a mother choosing family stability after a bruising divorce and custody battle with Joe Jonas (who she once accused of withholding their kids’ passports, yikes). But the timing makes her move bigger than just logistics. “It’s like, ‘Yeah, mothers, you can work now guys, you don’t have to stay at home, but like God forbid you have a social life,’” she told Flaunt. “It was horrific.” For Turner, London isn’t just home, it’s reprieve from a country where being a working mom in the spotlight meant being vilified for basic humanity. She described her days now as simple but restorative, saying one of her favorite ways to relax is “to sit on a sofa with a good friend and gossip with a glass of wine.”
The move also speaks to a larger unease about America’s direction. Celebrities aren’t exactly bellwethers of democracy, but when women with resources start leaving in droves, it says something about who feels safe and supported. For Turner, the choice is clear. She summed it up bluntly: “I just never want to move again.” Sometimes, leaving is its own kind of survival.
