Kim Cattrall Goes Makeup-Free In a Rare Photo For 69th Birthday

Kim Cattrall is celebrating a major milestone—the Sex and the City actress just turned 69. Cattrall shared a sweet photo of some her celebrations from the big day on Instagram. In the photo, the actress, who celebrated her birthday on August 21, seemingly went makeup-free and donned a beige sweatshirt and Moon Mammoths cap as she smiled and held up a glass of champagne. “Thank you for all your Birthday wishes! 💋❤️ Go Moon Mammoths!🦣 💜,” she wrote in the caption.

Cattrall has previously spoken up about ageism in Hollywood. “In my 50s, I felt things slipping away,” Cattrall told People back in 2020. “It was a gradual change, but the scripts were cut in half. [In Hollywood] you’re either an ingenue or a leading lady and then a divorced wife or a cougar. And I’m none of those things. So I wanted to examine that.”

A few years later, in 2023, she echoed similar sentiments while speaking to Vogue Greece. “Speaking for me, a woman in her 60s that is, I think the biggest challenge is to continue to be relevant, to work, to be able to convey a message, to be relevant,” she said, per Us Weekly.

Cattrall’s birthday post also seemed to include an ever-so-subtle comment on the final season of And Just Like That, the reboot of Sex and the City. According to Page Six, Cattrall liked a comment on the post that referred to her character Samantha. “And Just Like that…we all know it was Sam (Kim) who carried the entire franchise,” read the comment.

Cattrall decided not to join the other three stars of the show in the reboot, though she did make a brief cameo in the season 2 finale.
